"Vanuatu is a slice of tropical paradise"

Letter from the Consul

I would like to introduce myself. I am the Consul of Vanuatu to Lebanon and Special Envoy of the Republic of Vanuatu to the Middle East. I am pleased to announce that our beautiful 83-island archipelago is prospering, spurred on by the worldwide stellar reputation we have amassed.

More and more people are discovering what a wonderful country we have and are choosing to do business here. Many are electing to reside here as well, at least on a part-time basis. Yes, Vanuatu is experiencing massive growth in its population. That is largely due to its economy and magnificent atmosphere. No wonder we are so proud of one of its major slogans of being “a slice of tropical paradise.”

Vanuatu has the distinction of having its people be repeatedly pronounced the happiest people on Earth. The quality of life here is superb and is experienced at a relaxed pace even when you must deal with government agencies. They will never rush you through a meeting or an important procedure. We want to invite you to visit Vanuatu and experience our country’s phenomenal atmosphere for yourself.

Due to its sprawling north-south nature, there is more than one climate. In the northern parts of this country, one can expect hot and humid temperatures. In the southern parts it tends to be dry and mild. In the winter months of December through February, it can be a little chilly during the nights. A lite jacket is recommended if you plan to venture outdoors in the evenings in the wintertime.

As for precipitation, the most rainfall is experienced between January and April at about 300 mm per month. The rest of the year, it is less than that. The exception would be in the area known as The Banks Islands far north in Vanuatu. There the annual rainfall totals more than 4,000 mm per year. There are occasional cyclone storms in Vanuatu. However, if you get caught in one, there is nothing to fear. All the mainstream tourist facilities are built to withstand this type of weather. Therefore, no danger exists for anyone.

There are plenty of activities to experience in this capital city of Vanuatu, something to pique everyone’s interest.  There is the National Museum of Vanuatu, local markets and many places in which to go diving.  You can spend the day swimming on Iririki Island, take a cruise to the tree covered Erakor Island, or experience the thrill of Tropic Thunder Jets.  You and your family can go to the Vanuatu Cultural Centre or take the first and best Buggy Fun tour of the island.  You will not lack for things to do here.

With so much to do in Port Vila, it is easy to overlook the other islands of Vanuatu. Take Espiritu Santo for example. There are a lot of fun things to do here as well. There is the picturesque Champagne Beach which never gets too crowded. It is a great place to experience a little solitude. Or wander through the Millenium Cave or Million Dollar Point. The latter is a tourist site featuring military remains from the United States’ participation in World War II. For a more exotic vacation, book a stay for the entire family at Ratua Island Resort and Spa. You might never want to leave when you stay here.

If you are the adventurous type, be sure to include a stay on the Vanuatu island of Tanna. Tanna is most famous for its active volcano, Mount Yasur. You will also find traditional villages and Port Resolution to explore. If you are on a honeymoon or an anniversary trip, book some time at Tanna Lodge and then relax on Louniel Beach. Then you and your mate can tour the Blue Cave in all its glory. You may need to book this part far in advance, as it is quite popular and fills up often. It is highly worth the extra effort. Blue Cave is a wonder to behold.

No matter what time of year, whether this is your first trip here or tenth, you are always welcome. We described the activities on three of the islands. There are 80 others to enjoy while you are here, so leave plenty of time. You will want to familiarize yourself with the customs, as well as all the best sites to see before you come. Yes, there are laws and regulations associated with Vanuatu; however, they are sensible and kept to a minimum. You and your guests will have the vacation of your lives. Come to Vanuatu soon!
